Nora

Nora is based off of the book

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

I related to this book so much it was creepy

It's about a girl gets to try on different lives she could've lived

If she made different decisions

She could've been an Olympic swimmer

(I swam competitively for 8 years)

She could've been a famous singer songwriter

(ha)

She takes Prozac as an antidepressant

(I'm currently on them)

I empathized a lot with Nora

There's a lot of weight to her potential

And her mental illness gets in the way a lot of the time

I didn't even finish the book before I wrote this song

I wanted the melody to feel unsettling

And I think I did a good job with that

The chorus is in the perspective of an old acquaintance

Saying seemingly simple phrases

That could trigger a strong emotional response from Nora

I also wanted the song to build as it goes along

To represent the pressure she feels inside

I was so excited when I wrote this song

It was disappointing to see that it didn't do so well on YouTube

It's funny how that works

Come and Find Me was one of my favorite songs I've ever written

And it barely got any streams on Spotify

It's just something you have to deal with as a creative

That not everyone will love what you're proud of

And that's okay

Because the right people will find their way
